Our Story
Full Circle Microbes started with a simple idea. Food and other organic material are wasted on a scale so massive that it harms our planet. We are determined to stop it.
We recognized that organic waste disposal and synthetic fertilizers are both responsible for significant environmental damage, including greenhouse gas emissions. So we set out to learn everything we could about organics recycling, in order to transform harmful waste into a valuable agricultural input.
We’re developing a novel, anaerobic fermentation process powered by a finely-tuned microbial community that we call Full Circle Microbes. We created FCM to revolutionize both organic waste disposal and fertilizer production. Our current focus is to transform wasted biomass from Cannabis plants into a highly effective food for Cannabis. We’re eager to help build environmentalism into the foundation of the hemp industry while helping growers save money, boost their yields and differentiate their brands.
We chose a third-generation Vermont farm where we would build out our office and lab. Taproot Farm offers a vibrant agricultural community with plenty of organic waste to test the anaerobic fermentation process and space to use the fertilizer output. It also doesn’t hurt that one of our founders is part of Taproot’s third-generation family.
In operation since the summer of 2018, Full Circle Microbes is dedicated to product innovation and understanding the organic waste landscape through research and partnerships. These partnerships focus on industries at the heart of organics recycling, including agriculture, composting and the burgeoning Cannabis sector. We believe that organic waste is an urgent environmental issue and that now is the time for action.
